Well, here are pictures of Baby Makay in the Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. and was 18.5 inches long. He was born on May 20th at 8:01 p.m. We love him, and everyone says he looks just like his daddy! Phew.

This is me and Matt waiting for our baby to come.
They just scrubbed him down with the blanket, and he didn't like that at all. He wanted them to leave him alone.

Then they started poking him and all he wanted was his mama.

His Grandpa Graves

His Grandpa Barnes

They finally cleaned him and wrapped him. He liked that.

Daddy changing his first diaper ever. What a good dad and husband.

Poor Baby

Matt had a crazy incident. He was holding a knife in his right hand as well as bracing himself against a wall. His left hand was doing the work, and came too close to his bracing hand. He sliced his hand open.
To make a long story short, he was bleeding all over and ended up fainting. He remembers waking up with his boss standing over him with a belt in his hands. I guess his boss thought he might be having a seizure and was going to put the belt in Matt’s mouth. He passed out twice and although it was only for a total of 45 seconds, Matt says it was the best sleep he’s ever had.
They went to the hospital and Matt got stitches. Jokingly I said, “So all that praying that you’ll be safe was for nothing huh?” Now that I think about it, he could have cut his whole thumb off or something much worse, so I’m convinced that the prayers are working, and keeping him safe.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I have to brag about my awesome husband again. Yesterday was my birthday and he took me to The Mayan for dinner. It was so fun. I love to see the cliff divers- Every time they jump it scares me. When Matt and I were in Mazatlan we saw some “cliff divers.” I wish I could say that the authentic divers were the best I’ve seen, but the divers at The Mayan are way better.
The other great thing about The Mayan is that it smells like Disneyland. It reminds me of waiting in line for Pirates of the Caribbean or the Indiana Jones ride. The lights are dim and they have it set up like an archeological dig. There are recordings of birds and other animals in the background. It’s such a fun place to go to.
I’m such an idiot. I forgot to take my camera. I never remember it. I need to be better about that. So I don’t have any pictures to add.
We also rented The Frog Princess. Eh. But it’s always fun to see a movie that you know is going to be clean.
I’m spoiled because I also got flip flops(my others broke) and tickets to a Real Soccer game this weekend! I’m so excited.
One more thing that was great about yesterday was that I only have a month left until our little baby comes!!

So Confused!

I had just finished cleaning my house and unpacking from our weekend in Salt Lake when hunger set in. Knowing we’d be gone all weekend we ate everything so it wouldn’t go bad. Not wanting to have to make anything, I sat down and turned on the TV delaying the meal making. Trying to decide what to watch, my phone rings. I figure it’s a telemarketer, but actually it’s Matt! We don’t usually talk during the day, so I was excited! He was at lunch and telling me how his morning went. The doorbell rang, interrupting our rare conversation.
I assumed that it was our landlord. They sometimes bring things down, or ask question, etc. Turns out it is a delivery guy. I’m so surprised because our door is around back down the stairs. He asks if I ordered a sandwich. Laughing I say, “No, did you try upstairs?” He says yes. I’m baffled because he’s still standing there and I wanted to get back to Matt. I thought for a second, If I just take it I’ll have lunch, but I didn’t want to pay for it. He asks for Kaycie, and then it clicks.
I say into the phone, “Did you order me a sandwich?” Matt is laughing and admits that he did. I sign for the sandwich that Matt already paid for and finally the kid looks relieved.
I have the coolest husband. He is SO thoughtful and I don’t know how I lucked out to get him!

Falling

I don’t know if it is a coincidence or the newly huge belly with a little guy inside, but I have taken two tumbles in the last week. The first, I was coming up the stairs from our front door and tripped on the second to top one. I landed on my knee and my shin hit the corner of the concrete offender. I rolled over, onto my shoulder holding my knee in one hand and the shin in the other. Matt turned around to find me laughing as hard as I ever have. I couldn’t stop laughing-probably so I didn’t start crying. I lie there laughing for a good 2 or 3 minutes before I can take a breath and get up.
The second wasn’t as funny. It was dark and slick and I headed out to my car from my parent’s house with a warm bowl of soup in one hand and fresh bread in the other. I must have hit a patch of ice because I fell hard, right on my left side. It didn’t hurt until I stood up. The rest of the night my back, butt and leg hurt.

Random thought

You know what I love? I love going into public restrooms and getting a stall that has the toilet seat still up. I love this because it means that I am the first person to use this seat since it was cleaned. Even though I use the paper liners, there is just a good feeling associated with sitting on a clean seat. In fact I love this so much that sometimes I put the seat back up when I’m done so that the next person can have that same clean feeling, even though it is farce.

Working

So I’ve been working. I answer phones, activate people’s cards, answer questions about their accounts, etc. I like this job, but it is taking its toll. Matt likes to stay up as late as possible. I don’t, but if I want to spend time with him, I have to stay up late. We get up at 6 to make it to work on time, and I’m used to sleeping until 9 or 10. (NOTE: 6-10 are the best hours because I used to get the bed all to myself!)
It’s funny because Matt says that I’ve been pretty good and haven’t been ornery or hormonal like the typical pregnant lady. I think it is because I was getting enough sleep. Now that I’m not, I notice that I have NO patience, I feel sick all the time, I feel like crying almost all the time, and I don’t want to do anything when I get home, so I leave dishes and laundry to the last moment. Dinner on time? Ha! Not since I started this job.
So I love working, and bringing in money and all, but it really is ruining my life outside of work. I don’t eat healthy because there isn’t time, and I could use the sugar boost. I don’t exercise because I don’t have time. My skin looks awful because I’m not eating right or working out. I feel like a big fat pig that gets noticeably bigger every day!!
Wow, it felt good to get all that out. Is there anything a naïve first timer can do?
